What Really is Role of Media and Internet?

What is the role of media and INTERNET in building a graceful and successful generation? Media is distracting, face book is fake book, INTERNET promote cyberbulling, they reduce real life interaction, misinformation spread like wildfire through cyberspace, crime is promoted by cable and above all this all is wastage of time, has bad effect on psyche and is making physically lethargic, mentally dull and overall impracticable generation. 

These all are diatribes made against media and INTERNET and to some extend they are valid but in criticizing the dark side of media and INTERNET, we have neglected its lighter sides and totally ignored its role, the real purpose of it. Adopting sanguineistic(optimistic) view, I would like to posit some of its positive points.
Lets start with recalling some terrifying incidents. In April 2017, scenario Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan, a young man of 23 was brutally murdered due to a misunderstanding about blaspheme created on face book by a fake account created in the name of Mishal Khan. Instead of going for facts some members in administration of university and a mob of students publicize it and made fellow students of Mishal to kill him. But the most pathetic fact is many were shooting the incident as it was a scene of a movie. Next is heart trembling incident of September 2015, which took place in Pakistan's city Karachi, in a private school. A teenage boy and a girl shot themselves and all blame is put upon media and INTERNET which mis-guide young generation and romanticize them who are already living in a fancy. Beside these heart trembling incident, there are many reported and hundreds of unreported mis-happenings too like elopements, murdering, manipulation, robbery, fraud, rape etc and these all are increasing day by day. But in my view, our verdict, media and INTERNET is 100% responsible (mostly there are comments of 200% and 10000% responsible to increase intensity), is invalid. Jerry Van Brooke say: "Social media do not really exist. What people do with it... makes it social or anti social." 

But what really is role of media and INTERNET? What is the purpose of introducing it as a revolutionary technology if it has so devastating effects upon scientific generation? To me, media and INTERNET are like teachers, that teaches and give wanted and unwanted awareness as well. Some times its way of teaching is ambiguous- message is not clear or an important message is encoded into bitter tragedy or presented in an unpleasing way, e.g, "Fashion", blockbuster but X- rated movie, explores not only vulgarity of fashion industry (not all fingers are of same length) but also have a message of struggle. Its core line was when a girl returned defeated and ruined to her father, he bring her back to routine life by saying 'everybody runs in a race, some fall, but a true warrior and a successful person is one who rise and continue'. Isn't it inspiring? Similarly there are movies which convey a clear, easy to perceive message, like "Table No # 21", outstanding movie tagged under "No Ragging".
Cheek by jowl with this is learning. Media and INTERNET is a source of easy and rapid learning. It is easy for one to apprehend knowledge in interesting way, like "Inside Out", mind blowing, Oscar winning (2016) movie (must watch) is the best and easiest way to learn about memory and it show importance of joyous and sad episodes in life. National Geography, Discovery, Animal Planet are playing their role in enhancing knowledge about different aspect of Animal's life, new discoveries, new methods and even about how to survive in harsh, all alone, distant places if one by evil chance stuck there. History is believed to be most difficult subjects because one has to probe the past events which one can hardly imagine in mind. But Media and INTERNET has made this easy and bring past to life again in the form of movies and made that easy to grasp. Media and INTERNET agog one to learn more and more in interesting and easy way and everything is available on one click.
Media and INTERNET also provide "awareness" and do help to control crimes. Kasoor (Pakistan's city) case (children abuse case) is bring forward by media and it go viral on INTERNET which made authorities to take it seriously. 
Beside all this, it is like a friend- outlet for shy people, connect us throughout the world, help one to make new friends, know about the world around one or about the distant places which one hardly get chance to visit, help one to establish business, promote business through advertisements, follow new trends and many many more. So, this point is clear that media and INTERNET has far important positive points, which are overshadowed by our wrong and exiguous views about it. It is use of thing, not thing itself, which is good or bad. These are parents who have to spare time for children and taught them in friendly and "democratic" way that what is worth seeing and what is worth skipping and what is epistle in the transmission they are watching to turn their children view to optimistic side. They are parents who have to make children learn one point about media and INTERNET that it is like a sharp knife which can be used to cut vegetables (positive use) and to cut someone's throat or stab somebody to death. Because as Simon Mainwaring say: "Social media is not about the exploitation of technology but service to community".
